[a/b/c] - This notation proceeds each set of spore measurements in the key. The number "a" is equal to the number of spores measured. The number "b" is equal to the number of basidiomes from which these spores came; and "c" is equal to the number of collections from which the basidiomes were taken.
(k-) m - n (-p) - All ranges of measurements and computed values are presented in this format. The value of "k" is the smallest observed or computed value; and the value "p" is the largest observed or computed value. If "k" is omitted then the value of "m" is the smallest value observed/ computed. If "p" is omitted, then the value of "n" is the largest value observed/computed. The value of "m" is the 5th percentile value for the data. The value of "n" is the 95th percentile value for the data.
L = the average spore length computed for one specimen examined and the range of such averages
L´ = the average spore length computed for all spores measured
W = the average spore width computed for one specimen examined and the range of such averages
W´ = the average spore length computed for all spores measured
Q = the ratio of length/breadth for a single spores and the observed range of the ratio of length/breadth for all spores measured
Q = the average value of Q computed for one specimen examined and the range of such averages
Q´ = average value of Q computed for all spores measured
wcs = width of the central stratum of a lamella
wst-near = distance from an outer margin of the central stratum to the nearest base of a basidium
wst-far = distance from an outer margin of the central stratum to the farthest base of a basidium on the same side of the central stratum.
