| discussion | To date, this species is only known in association with Pecan (Carya illinoiensis from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is the first reported taxon from North America with a weakly structure (but fairly persistent) skirt on its stem. This character has been previously reported on a very few taxa from Africa. So this critter is a rare bird. Like all other known "ringed Ringless Amanitas," this species can be assigned to the provisional [subsection Penetratrices] stirps Strobilaceovolvata.—R. E. Tulloss |
